talked to my RE today. my actual RE, not a nurse, not a fellow, not an intern. i emailed him earlier and he actually called me back.. and didn’t sound rushed. i am impressed. so impressed i hung up on him. oops. but he called back, what a guy! we talked all about us not wanting to do monitored ovulation induction anymore due to the extreme cost and low success rate (what is it 25%? ick). but we can’t afford IVF right now.. so in the meantime, rather than doing nothing we are going to resort back to clomid. i’m starting provera now for 10 days (or less since it seems to work faster with me).. then clomid 150mgs days 3-7.. monitor myself with my temps and possibly opks.. (not sure since they usually don’t work for me, i get constant positives, but we’ll see how it goes).. and if by CD35 i haven’t ovulated, i’m not pregnant and/or haven’t gotten AF, then i will start provera to induce AF. lather, rinse, repeat. if no ovulation on the 150mg cycle, i will up to 200mgs the next cycle. should be interesting.. clomid has never made me ovulate before, but a higher dose could work.. it’s not impossible. if this doesn’t work.. all money will be saved for IVF.

edited to add: started provera tonight.. i’d rather take it at night.. so here we go. one down..

Hey Emily, I’m not sure if you remember me from O-soft (Jennie1277) but I just wanted to wish you luck with the higher dose of Clomid. You and I have annoyingly similar (read: forever and ever and ever) cycles and I wanted to let you know that 150mg worked for me once, even though 100mg did absolutely nothing for me, so there is a definite chance that you will respond to it too. Anyway, good luck again and I hope you get to pop that chickie on your chart very soon!

Hi Emily, I came across your blog after scouring the internet trying to find anything about the foreign substance I was injecting into my body called gonal-f. Anyway, I just wanted to wish you luck and tell you that I love your tattoos! ~Melissa

Hi there!
I’m a 41 year old vegan on Gonal f (Clomid thinned my lining) and HcG shot wishing you luck. I did find that injectables are dramatically more effective (this is my first cycle with them), but I’m also really old and everyone’s system is slightly different.
I figured I’d try them once as I too have time before August IVF, so I could squeeze in a cycle. As you say, if it works, I save myself $5000!
Love the pics, by the way.
Good luck!
